aha, but there's also this, which I find very effective for most desoldering purposes (not sure how it works for surface mount ICs and suchlike,but it's great gor through-hole).The $200 one looks faboo, though...

The 200$ one is a Hakko Desoldering Gun w/Pump (model 808-5)
